Man Charged In Connection To Troy Apartment Shooting: Police

A man was arrested and charged in connection to a Monday shooting that left one person dead inside a Troy apartment​, police said.

TROY, MI — A man was arrested and charged in connection to a Monday shooting that left one person dead inside a Troy apartment, police said.

Officers found Gregory Harris, 25, dead from multiple gunshot wounds inside the Charter Square Apartment Complex in the area of Big Beaver and Rochester roads on Monday afternoon, police said.

Calvin Louis Austin, Jr., 23, was charged with open murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, police said. He was placed in jail and denied bond. His next court date is scheduled for Nov. 22.

Troy Police said Austin fatally shot Harris after an argument at 3:45 p.m. A witness then called police and provided information on the suspected shooter, police said.

Officers then arrested Austin in the complex's parking lot without incident, police said.
