More Reports of Stranger Danger in Vicinity

Students in West Bloomfield, Birmingham and Macomb County have also reported creepy encounters with strangers this week.

Police are asking residents to be especially vigilant after a West Bloomfield middle School student was approached by a stranger Wednesday, WDIV-TV reports.

The girl said that as she was walking on the boardwalk near the west side of Middlebelt Road just north of Lone Pine Road, the stranger offered her candy and asked her if she would like to meet him for some tea.

It’s the third report of “stranger danger” this week. On Sunday, a toothless man reportedly offered to Macomb County girls $10 and a kitten. On Tuesday, two Birmingham teens said a stranger in a red sports car approached them and offered them candy.

West Bloomfield parents told the TV station they’re unnerved by the report.

“It’s disheartening to hear and it makes you wonder what type of society we have,” said another parent, Jill Gregg.

The student ran away and told school officials, who called police. The school district immediately notified parents by email.

The suspect is described as in his 50s with dark hair. He was wearing sunglasss and workout clothing, according to the report.

Anyone with information is asked to call the West Bloomfield Police Department at (248) 975-9200.
