The North Oakland Concert Band will present "Splashes of Color" on Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Adams High School (3200 W. Tienken Rd., Rochester, MI). The concert will feature special guests the Light Metal Band, a leading metro Detroit brass quintet, in program covering a broad spectrum of composers and musical styles. Admission is free; donations are welcome.
The Light Metal Band's section of the concert will include colorful works by Professor Peter Schickele and "Fats" Waller, and selections from West Side Story, by Leonard Bernstein. The North Oakland Band will follow with an array of music by composers ranging from Franz Liszt to John Williams. Finally the two ensembles will join forces to perform works by Copland and Bernstein, and the Dixieland jazz classic That's a Plenty.
