Ohio Pair Busted in $8K Black Friday Shoplifting Spree: Police

The alleged shoplifters used "booster bags" designed to defeat doorway security sensors.

Two Akron, OH, women were busted on Black Friday for trying to to relieve the Victoria’s Secret store in the Somerset Collection mall in Troy of $800 worth of merchandise.

The women, ages 20 and 29, removed security sensors from lingerie, then used aluminum-lined “booster bags” designed to defeat doorway security sensors, according to a report on WWJ.

Store employees saw them and alerted police, who discovered nearly $8,000 in stolen merchandise from a number of businesses, police said.

The women are facing a number of retail fraud-related charges.

Also Friday, two 17-year-old boys, one from Harper Woods and the other from Detroit, were caught shoplifting at Saks Fifth Avenue in Somerset Place. Mall security officers reportedly caught them trying of steal $295 worth of merchandise.

Both were arrested for retail fraud.
