The off-limits area of Clinton River stretches east from Pontiac’s city limits to the border of Oakland and Macomb counties, the report stated.

The chemicals that caused an oil sheen in the water were detected Monday afternoon near Auburn Hills, the report stated. The Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Environmental Quality are cleaning up the tainted stretch of Clinton River, and the warning will be in effect until that’s done, the report added.
