New county park in Troy on track for 2027 opening (theoaklandpress.com) — Troy is getting its first Oakland County park, as Turtle Woods moves toward a fall 2027 opening with new trails, boardwalks, parking, and restrooms north of Square Lake Road. The county has completed land acquisition, approved a concept plan, and secured major grant funding with help from Troy School District and Six Rivers Land Conservancy.
   

2. Asian students made up 10.2% of Oakland County districts' student body in 2024-25 (seoaklandnews.com) — New state data show Asian students now make up 10.2% of Oakland County's enrollment, with Troy School District leading the county at 4,856 Asian students. The figures highlight shifting demographics locally and place Troy among the most diverse districts as Michigan's overall student population slowly declines.
   

3. Football preview: 2026 Oakland Activities Association team capsules (theoaklandpress.com) — High school football fans in Troy get an in-depth look at the 2026 outlook for both Troy Athens and Troy Colts, including key returning players and where each program needs to improve. Athens brings back a powerful offensive line and standout back Macklin Ciurla, while the Colts look to rebound behind returning skill players and renewed rivalries in the reshuffled OAA White.

Midland Public Schools selects SchoolAI for grades 6-12 (michigansthumb.com) — Midland Public Schools just awarded a $538,000 security-camera contract to Mobile Communications America of Troy while also rolling out the SchoolAI platform for grades 6–12. Teachers say the AI tool keeps students thinking for themselves, and new cameras plus monitors will be funded through state mental health and security grants.
