Retired Troy educator named treasurer of statewide group
Hess Bates to serve Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel through June 2017

Hess Bates of Rochester Hills, a former biology and chemistry teacher at Troy High School for 30 years, has been named treasurer of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel (MARSP), the state’s largest association of former public school employees.
Bates will serve as MARSP treasurer through June 2017.
A member of the North Oakland Chapter of MARSP, he has served as the director of Area 19, which encompasses much of southeast Michigan. Before that, he was treasurer of the Troy Education Association for five years.

MARSP is an independent, nonpartisan association of nearly 42,000 retired employees from every work group and geographical location in Michigan. The association advocates exclusively for retired public school employee pensions and health care benefits.
