Sketch Released of 'Cop' You Shouldn't Trust

Oakland County sheriff’s officials have released a police sketch of a man they say has been impersonating a police officer, and are offering a $1,000 reward for the suspect’s capture and conviction.

The description was provided by a 23-year-old West Bloomfield Township man, who said he was pulled over by the fake cop on Friday between Duck Lake and Livingston roads, according to a police report.

Police said the suspect was driving an older model Crown Victoria – a staple in police fleets across the country – and activated a flashing blue light. He wore a baseball cap with the word “sheriff” in white lettering.

When the suspect asked the motorist for his driver’s license and registration, he became suspicious and began asking questions, police said. The suspect said he was only giving the man a warning, returned to his vehicle and drove away.

Police said the dark-colored Crown Victoria didn’t have any external markings and the blue strobe light appeared to be mounted on the visor. The suspect is described as a young, heavyset white male about 6 feet tall. He was dressed in all dark clothing, with no uniform, badge, or insignia visible.
