Suspected Drunken Driver Charged In Crash That Killed Troy Man
Police said a 47-year-old Troy man was trying to cross a road in Harrison Township in July when he was fatally struck by a van.

HARRISON TOWNSHIP, MI — An elderly Harrison Township man is facing charges after prosecutors said he fatally struck a Troy man in Macomb County in July, according to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office.
Richard Munro, 84, of Harrison Township, was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing death. He was placed in jail with a $25,000 bond. If he is released from jail, he must wear an alcohol tether and surrender his driver’s license.
His next court date is scheduled for Dec. 5.

Police said a 47-year-old Troy man was trying to cross Jefferson Avenue near Cottrell Street in Harrison Township at 10:50 p.m. when he was hit by a Ford van on July 3.
Officers found the man laying in a driveway and rushed him to a nearby hospital where he died, police said.

Munro, who was driving the van, stopped at the scene and cooperated with officials, police said.
"This individual's reckless choice has forever altered the course of a family's life. Driving under the influence is not just against the law; it's a profound injustice that shatters families," Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido said. "Our pursuit of justice will be unwavering as we seek accountability for the innocent life that was taken."
