Thieves Target Muscle Cars In Troy, Steal One: Police
Police are investigating after thieves stole one muscle car and tried stealing multiple others this month in Troy.
TROY, MI — Police are investigating after thieves stole one muscle car and tried stealing multiple others this month in Troy.
The first attempted theft happened at the happened at the Planet Fitness on John R. Road, near 14 Mile Road, sometime between 5:15 p.m. and 6:20 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11, police said.
The owner of a 2021 Dodge Challenger told officers he walked out of the gym and found his car's passenger windows busted out and that someone tampered with the wiring harness and electronics underneath the passenger dashboard, police said.

In a separate incident, the owner of a different 2021 Dodge Challenger told officers someone broke the window on his car while it was parked at the Powerhouse gym on Livernois Road, near Interstate 75 between 6 p.m. and 8:09 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12, police said.
Police noted nothing was stolen from the Challenger, not even the car owner's wallet which was in plain view.

Also on July 12, an owner of a 2020 Dodge Charger told officers someone stole his car while it was parked at the Stoney River Steakhouse And Grill on W. Big Beaver Road, near Livernois Avenue sometime between 7:30 and 8:55 p.m., police said.
The last attempted theft happened on Saturday, July 15, in the 900 block of Chatham Drive, just after 8 p.m. when the owner of a 2017 Dodge Challenger told officers someone broke the car's window while it was parked in the neighborhood, police said.
Officers said they found damage from a pry tool on the window frame, and a screwdriver on the driver’s side floorboard, leading them to believe they were trying to steal the car, police said.
Police have not arrested any thieves or suspected thieves in connection to the incidents. Police did not describe any potential suspects.
Police do not know if the incidents were connected.
