THS Junior Srishti Gowda Recognized with Girl Scout Gold Award
The Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan (GSSEM) have recognized Troy High junior and member of GS Troop 70419 Srishti Gowda as a recipient of the Girl Scout Gold Award. The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award girls may earn. The Gold Award can be earned by Girl Scout Seniors (9th-10th grade) and Ambassadors (11th-12th grade) who successfully complete ambitious projects that involve taking action to serve the community, and which educate and inspire others to act. This award is only presented to those who demonstrate exceptional leadership and a special commitment to making the world a better place.
Working with Gift of Life of Michigan, Srishti created a new organ donation education curriculum for her Gold Award Project. This toolkit has been designed to be used in segment Two Drivers Education classes. She has engaged several local area driving schools to include the material in their classroom instruction. She also made presentations at Troy High School, the local public library and the Troy Secretary of State office, which resulted in dozens of new donors, now identified on their drivers license. Srishti is a Junior at Troy High School and is an 11 year member of Girl Scout Troop 70419
