Troy and Athens HS Choirs Compete in 2nd Annual Sing-Off Competition

Troy and Athens High School choirs compete in 2nd annual sing-off

The high school choirs of ONE TROY faced off Tuesday night, in the 2nd annual “Sing-Off” held this year at Troy High School.

The Colt (Troy HS) and Redhawk (Athens HS) choirs came ready to rumble with spiritwear and bringing their own cheering sections for the friendly face-off. The opener was a full-ensemble tribute to Queen, that included “Another One Bites the Dust,” “We Are The Champions,” and “Bohemian Rhapsody” among others, and really got the crowd going. Then THS Treble Choir sang “Changes,” and “Wings,” followed by The Athens Concert choir with “House of Gold,” and “Na, Na, Na” and finally, the THS Concert Choir with “Build Me Up (Buttercup)” and “Save the World/Don’t You Worry Child.”

The cross town rivals competed for trophies and the street cred of who is Troy’s best choir, leaving the task of judging to special guests Brian Nutting (Director, Troy Colt Bands), Remo Roncone (THS Principal), and Dr. Richard Machesky (Superintendent of Troy Schools). “It was a hard decision,” said Nutting. “They were all great, and very entertaining!”
