Troy Grocery Manager Charged After Stealing $750K From Store: AG
Investigators determined the store manager at the Fresh Thyme Market in Troy stole at least $750,000.
TROY, MI — A Troy grocery store manager is in trouble after stealing more than $750,000 from the food market, according to Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel.
Trevor Beaver, 31, of Roseville, was charged with one count of embezzlement over $100,000 and one count of using a computer to commit a crime, according to the attorney's general office.
If convicted, Beaver faces a maximum imprisonment of 20 years or more to Life. As of Friday afternoon, officials have not scheduled his next court date, according to the attorney's general office.

Investigators determined Beaver used newly installed self-checkout kiosks at the Fresh Thyme Market in Troy to steal at least $750,000 from July 2022 through November 2023, according to the attorney's general office.
Investigators also said that Beaver usually scheduled himself as the only manager responsible for depositing the daily cash, including on his days off, according to the attorney's general office.

Accountants Fresh Thyme noticed a large amount of money missing from the Troy location after investigators conducted an audit in October 2023, according to the attorney's general office.
The audit revealed discrepancies between the cash sales and deposits, with roughly a loss of $900,000, according to the attorney's general office.
Overall, investigators believe that $750,000 of the loss was due to theft by Beaver, according to the attorney's general office.
Beaver admitted to stealing the money after he was confronted by management, loss prevention, and Michigan State Police, according to the attorney's general office.
"Businesses of all sizes should be enforcing even the most basic mechanisms for loss prevention," Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said. "All stores that lack similar protections should heed this warning to protect themselves from falling victim next."
