Troy Hotel Could Rival Opulence of Townsend in Birmingham
Developer Kenny Koza said the property will offer "high-end urban product" in a suburban setting.

TROY, MI — The city will get a new $20 million luxury hotel at Big Beaver Road and Troy Center Drive under a preliminary site plan recently approved by the Troy Planning Commission.
The site plan for the five-story, 126-room Aloft Hotel on the now-vacant lot was unanimously approved by the commission.
Developer Kenny Koza, who has opened Hampton Inn & Suites and Hilton Garden Inn hotels in Troy, expects the hotel to provide competition for Birmingham’s toney Townsend Hotel.

He described it as a “high-end urban product” in a suburban setting and a “very social hotel” rivaling the international W Hotels & Resorts chin. Rooms would be in the $200-a-night range.
“We have high expectations,” Koza said.
