New Details In Troy Officer Shooting

Police said the suspected car thief tried fleeing a traffic stop and drove straight toward an officer, who then fired five shots.

TROY, MI — A Detroit man was listed in stable condition after he was shot by a Troy officer while trying to flee a traffic stop in a stolen car Tuesday, police said.

A license plate camera captured the stolen car, which was taken from a Southfield car dealership on Nov. 6, and alerted officers at 3:15 p.m., police said.

Moments later, officers found the stolen car stopped at a traffic light and tried boxing-in the car on East Big Beaver, just west of Daley near Rochester Road in Troy, police said.
