UPDATED: Services Closed, Free Water and Ice as Outage Continues

Here's the latest on a power outage in Troy.

Updated at 8:30 p.m.:

Segments of Troy, including most of the City of Troy’s civic campus, continue to be without power as a result of a fire at a transformer substation at Big Beaver Road and Livernois Road. DTE is still on scene working to restore power.

Tomorrow, Friday, July 24, the Troy City Hall, the Troy Library, the Troy Community Center, Troy Family Aquatic Center and the 52-4 District Court will be closed. The Troy Police Department, Troy Fire Department and Troy Department of Public Works will remain open.

Free water and ice will be available at the Troy Police Department tomorrow at 10 AM. The Troy Police Department is located at 500 W. Big Beaver, Troy 48084.

Additional police resources have been activated to assist with power outage related matters. Officers will be patrolling areas still impacted by the power outage throughout the night.

The City of Troy has established a telephone center for non-emergency inquiries regarding the outage, 248-524-3300.

The City of Troy is experiencing a large power outage in areas between Coolidge Highway and John R Road, from Square Lake Road to Fourteen Mile Road. The cause is a fire at a transformer substation at Big Beaver Road and Livernois Road. DTE has been on scene and attending to the matter for several hours.

The Troy City Hall, the Troy Library, the Troy Community Center, and the Troy Family Aquatic Center are closed today. The Troy Police Department, Troy Fire Department and Troy Department of Public Works remain open.

Traffic control signals at all major intersections have been restored through the use of generators. Additional police resources have been activated to assist with power outage related matters.

Temporary shelter for impacted residents is available at Woodside Bible Church, 6600 Rochester, Troy. Inquiries regarding temporary shelter can be directed to 248-879-8533.
