Woman Will Not Face Charges In Macomb County Road Rage Shooting: Cops

Prosecutors said the woman fired a shot that hit two other women who were physically assaulting her in her car after a road rage incident.

STERLING HEIGHTS, MI — A woman will not face charges in connection to a Sterling Heights road rage shooting that happened in February, according to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office.

Prosecutors said a Jeep Compass followed a Dodge Durango to the Carrabbas Restaurant located on Schoenherr Road, south of Hall Road in Sterling Heights at 5 p.m. on Feb. 27.

A woman driving the Durango stopped at a stop sign in the shopping plaza near Carrabbas, and the driver of the Compass stopped directly behind the Durango, according to prosecutors.

A mother and daughter got out of the Jeep Compass and approached a woman who was in the driver's side of the Durango, according to prosecutors.

The woman in the Durango pulled out her handgun and fired one shot that struck the mother and daughter, according to prosecutors.

A bystander was approaching the altercation, but ran away after the woman fired the shot, according to prosecutors.

The mother and daughter were taken to a nearby hospital where they were recovering from non-life threatening injuries, according to prosecutors.

An eyewitness who called 911 said: "those two girls tried to attack the shooter…those two girls were beating up on her," according to prosecutors.

Prosecutors said the woman in the Durango fired the shot in self-defense and will not face charges in connection to the shooting, according to prosecutors.

The mother and daughter who attacked the woman in the Durango will not face any charges in connection to the assault, according to prosecutors.

Investigators said the woman who fired the shot stayed at the scene and is cooperated with officials. Police also said the woman has a valid CPL.

"Denying charges on the ground of self-defense is a recognition of the inherent right to protect oneself when faced with imminent danger," Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido said.
