📰 News we're reading

• West Nile virus detected in random mosquito sample in Taylor (thenewsherald.com) — West Nile virus has been detected in a mosquito sample from nearby Taylor, and Wayne County health officials say traps are also operating in Wayne itself to monitor the risk. Residents are urged to use insect repellent, dump standing water, and watch for flu-like symptoms, especially older adults or those with weakened immune systems, as activity typically peaks later this month.

• Road Watch: Oakland County and Metro Detroit construction week of Aug. 14 and beyond (theoaklandpress.com) — Drivers in and around Wayne face long-term freeway disruptions, including the Wayne Road ramp to westbound I-94 closed until 2027 and an eastbound I-94 ramp closure in Wayne County through late September. Additional intermittent closures on I-75, M-10, M-14, and US-12 (Michigan Avenue) will complicate regional commutes, so planning alternate routes will be crucial for local residents.
