14 Mile/Orchard Lake Roundabout Complete
The new road feature aims to alleviate congestion and reduce accidents.
The intersection of 14 Mile and Orchard Lake road is now open following the completion of a new roundabout at the Farmington Hills and West Bloomfield border, reports The Detroit Free Press.
The construction is part of the $16 million Northwestern Connector project, which aims to move traffic as planned in the 1950s had Northwestern Highway been built past Orchard Lake Road.
“This project has been in the works for many years, and it is great to see it come to fruition,” commission Chairman Ron Fowkes told The Detroit Free Press in a release. “This is one of the most significant projects that we have taken on in recent years. The new road configuration will ease congestion while improving safety and access to businesses throughout the area.”
