2 Hurt, 1 Arrested In Oakland County Double Shooting: Police

WEST BLOOMFIELD, MI — Two people were injured and one person was arrested in connection with a double shooting in Oakland County over the weekend, according to police.
The shootings happened around 9 a.m. Saturday in the area of Maple and Farmington roads in West Bloomfield, according to police.
A resident at the Thornberry Apartments called police and told them another resident was trying to break into his unit with an object that looked like a stick, according to police.

While officers were driving to the apartment complex, they received another call about a shooting at Maple View Liquor store, which is also in the area, according to police.
A family member of an employee of the Maple View Liquor Store told police the employee had been shot and was driving himself to the hospital, according to police.

Officers also received multiple calls from Thornberry residents about shots fired in the area, according to police.
When officers arrived at the apartment complex, they found the suspected shooter inside a car and stopped it, according to police.
The man exited the car with a rifle, which officers ordered him to drop, according to police.
The man did drop the gun and was arrested in connection with the shootings, according to police.
Police said he experienced a medical episode while in custody and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The victims included a woman who was shot at the apartment and a man who worked at the liquor store, according to police.
The woman was taken to a nearby hospital with non-fatal injuries, while the man was on life support, according to police.
Investigators believe the shootings were targeted and not random. They said there is no ongoing threat to the community.
