50,000 Meal Challenge for Gleaners

FOOD PANTRY CHALLENGE: 50,000 MEALS FOR GUESTS OF LINGENFELTER CARS & COFFEE

As part of the 2016 Lingenfelter Cars & Coffee series, Gleaners Community Food Bank is challenging guests of the weekly event to help serve 50,000 meals by providing food and monetary donations. For the series kickoff on June 4, Gleaners’ truck will be at the Lingenfelter event and the attending car enthusiasts are asked to fill it with nonperishable breakfast foods. Cereals, peanut butter and jams, breakfast bars, toaster pastries and more will be accepted.

Gleaners is one of the oldest food banks in the country and has been serving hungry people for almost 40 years. Last year, Gleaners distributed more than 34.5 million pounds of food to hungry neighbors. This translates to more than 78,000 meals per day.

Lingenfelter Cars & Coffee events are open to the community. Car enthusiasts are invited to start their summer weekend enjoying auto “show and tell.” Each Saturday morning, June 4 – August 27, Lingenfelter’s North Engine Build Facility in Wixom opens its doors and parking to the public. As in years past, the location will be the gathering spot for hundreds of car lovers, travelling from near and far, to show off their auto designs and see the latest and greatest in performance cars from Lingenfelter Performance Engineering.

To reach the 50,000 meal goal, donations for Gleaners will be accepted every Saturday of the series. There is no additional fee to participate in the events that are held rain or shine. Nonperishable food items and monetary donations will be accepted on-site.

Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy refreshments and registration will be open for guests to enter to win a set of Continental tires and other promotions throughout the summer. Updates on weekend special activities and featured cars from the Lingenfelter Collection will be posted on their Facebook page and website: www.lingenfelter.com.
