6 West Bloomfield Leaders Tapped for Excellence Awards

Deadline to buy tickets approaching for the chamber's 10th Annual Key to the 10th Annual Key to the Township Awards Dinner.

WEST BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI – Six community leaders will be honored next month at the Greater West Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce’s 10th Annual Key to the 10th Annual Key to the Township Awards Dinner.

The event will be held from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, at the Shenandoah Country Club, 5600 Walnut Lake Road. A cocktail reception will be held at 6 p.m., and dinner will follow at 7 p.m.

The Community Excellence Award winners include:

  • Business Person of the Year: Basil Bacall, Truss Hospitality and Development and Management LLC.
  • Spirit of the Community: Michelle Silber, event leader, Relay for Life of West Bloomfield.
  • Health and Wellness: Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha, of West Bloomfield, the pediatrician at Hurley Children’s Hospital whose studies of above average lead levels in the blood of Flint children informed the world about the Flint Water Crisis.
  • Leadership: Patrick Watson, West Bloomfield High School principal.
  • Young entrepreneur: Samantha Friedman, Cycle & Row (Fuse45)
  • Chamber member of the year: Amy Strauss, community relations manager of Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital.

Tickets are $125 each or $1,250 to $1,500 per table of 10. All tickets must be purchased in advance by Wednesday, May 4, either online with a credit card or by calling (248) 626-3636.
