DMC Huron Valley Hospital Ranked 12th in Metro Detroit

DMC Huron Valley Hospital has been recognized for its high-quality clinical service by U.S. News & World Report in Best Hospitals 2012-13. Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital ranked 12th overall in metropolitan Detroit and 16th in southeastern Michigan with seven specialties recognized as high-performing: Gastroenterology, Geriatrics, Gynecology, Nephrology, Orthopedics, Pulmonology, and Urology. The U.S. News hospital ratings are widely regarded as a standard of excellence in patient care.

In addition, Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital has received the highest safety rating of any southeast Michigan hospital from Consumer Reports. This ranking is based on a range of key clinical measures including avoidance of infections, serious complications after surgery and readmissions to the hospital. The overall patient experience, including communication with physicians and other hospital staff members, pain control and the hospital environment, are also elements of the rating.

The Leapfrog Group recently recognized Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital as well with an “A” Hospital Safety Score. U.S. hospitals were assigned an A, B, C, D, or F grade for their safety based on publicly available data on patients’ injuries, medical and medication errors, and infections (hospitalsafetyscore.org).  The Leapfrog Group is a national organization dedicated to improving hospital performance and cost-effectiveness.
