Pontiac Trail Closed Between M-5 and Welch Road Beginning June 22

The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) expects to close Pontiac Trail to through traffic between M-5 and Welch Road in Commerce Township starting approximately next Wednesday, June 22.

The closure is needed as part of the ongoing reconstruction of the M-5/Pontiac Trail intersection. The intersection is being reconstructed as a modern roundabout.

This section of Pontiac Trail will then remain closed until approximately Nov. 1, when the roundabout project is expected to be completed. Any local traffic wishing to access homes or businesses within the closed section of Pontiac Trail, should access the closed section via Welch Road (no access will be available from the M-5/Pontiac Trail intersection).

The detour route for Pontiac Trail through traffic during the closure will be Welch Road to West Maple Road to M-5 and back to Pontiac Trail and vice versa.
