Attendees can take a pontoon boat ride to Apple Island. Island volunteer guides provide commentary at select locations and then guests walk at their own pace to the next location. Stops include Native Americans presenters with storytelling and traditional life. The cost is $15 per adult and $10 per child (5-12 years; no children under 5).
Guests can also explore the free Orchard Lake Museum, and a number of great exhibits. Children of all ages can try their hand at farm chores including using a yoke, sharpening wheel, crosscut saw, and juicer and listen to a book about West Bloomfield apple farmers hourly. They can also do an archaeological dig, play with stilts and ice block tongs, and take photos in historical costumes! Adults can enjoy presentations about a wide range of topics: spinning, early outboard motors, 1815 Michigan surveying and archaeology. All events at the museum are free.
