Ask Honey: What's YOUR goal?

Are you all talk and no action?

Dear Honey,

I have so many things I want to do in my business and personal life, but I never seem to be able to do them. I am all talk and no action.

I’m so glad you took the first step to realize this. Some people never do.

Here are some tips to help you hit your target:

  1. Make a written plan of action with a task list and end result.
  2. In today’s everything.is.done.in.a.second culture, you have to realize that important things take time and patience.
  3. Make sure your goal is realistic and obtainable and that you are willing to go to any lengths to get it. Period.
  4. Look around and see what is stopping you from reaching your goal. Sometimes it’s other people and sometimes it’s you. Who is in your way? Or are you in your own way?
  5. Recognize that there will be things that distract you or even set you back, but don’t let them stop you from what you intend to do.
  6. Every day and everything you do must be heading toward that goal. Remember, it won’t happen all at once."A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”
  7. Talk to people because they want to help you be successful and take credit for it later (that is a joke). With the ease of email and Facebook, tell people that you need help to reach your goal and you will be surprised how easily everything opens up for you. If you come across people who don’t support you or try to discourage you from your goal — simple, don’t talk to them about it.
  8. Don’t say you are all talk and no action. Just do it, I know you can.
