Golf Season is Officially Here

Some safe simple tips to get you ready for golf season.

With warmer temps descending upon us, many are getting the clubs out of storage and will soon be hitting the links. Here are some easy tips and suggestions to help you prepare and possibly prevent injuries.

After long hours working, sitting at our computers or doing household chores, our bodies need to get rid of the cobwebs. Stretching will go a long way to help prepare your body for the rigors of swinging a golf club.

Major areas of focus; hips, shoulders, back (upper and lower) and the hamstrings. We also want to strengthen a few key areas. First the core, planks and side planks are much better and safer then the old sit-ups we all used to do. Many excellent routines for stretching and strengthening can be found on the Internet. Look to Youtube to find some great videos.

Lastly, to build those golfing muscles, swinging a weighted club will help loosen up those creaky joints at the same time as build some strength in those golf specific muscles. A heavy club can be purchased at or a less expensive option would be a weighted doughnut or a weight that clips to your shaft.

Stay safe, have fun, and hit them long and straight.
