The Roundabouts
For a change, a non biking topic. Because I'm amazed that West Bloomfield drivers still don't understand how to drive the roundabouts

Oh my goodness, he's writing about something other than riding his bike.
I for one LOVE the roundabouts, especially the two on Maple Road. If it weren't for the darn lights between Orchard and Farmington, and Farmington and Drake that aren't timed properly, driving Maple is almost like a low speed 696.
It has been over four years since the Maple/Drake roundabout opened, and I'm continuously amazed at how people still don't realize the best way to drive them if you are on Maple and continuing on Maple. At both Drake and at Farmington, the road opens up to three lanes. Yet it seems 90% of the drivers are content to just stay in the left lane and wait a long time to get through. The engineers gave us three lanes for a reason - use them! If you are turning off of Maple, then yes you need to be in a specific lane. But if you are going straight through, then use the middle and right lane to your advantage.

On the other hand, maybe I shouldn't post this and then I'll get through the roundabouts faster.
