Coach Insignia: A place with Taste and a View

Coach is so much more than its fine dining with a great view reputation.

My friend Chelsea and I recently had the opportunity to sit down with some of the team behind the well-known Coach Insignia. The thought and love that is put into every menu item, each guest’s experience, the food prep and event coordination blew us away.

Epicurean Group’s Coach Insignia really has something for everyone… Great Happy Hour prices and options at their bar Monday-Thursday (4-7pm) and Friday (4-7pm & 9-11pm), an exquisite menu thought up by top of the line chefs who thrive on reaching all of your senses and a wine list 26 pages long with bottles from a simple $34 to an outlandish $7000. No matter your purpose for visiting the top of the Ren Cen, the caring & knowledgeable staff will ensure your complete satisfaction!

Navigating your way to Coach Insignia can be intimidating, but it is really easy. As far as parking, some of your options include:

Port Atwater Parking Garage - located at 200 Beaubien St.
Miller Garage- across from Marriott Hotel

Once in the RenCen, follow the signs or ask one of the kind staff to point you in the right direction. Once you arrive, you will be kindly escorted onto an elevator that will take you up while you enjoy your first glimpse of the incredible view.

Most people think they can only go to Coach if they want to break the bank, but that’s simply not the case. Sure you can go and enjoy an incredible dinner for two overlooking our beautiful city, but you can also drop in for Happy Hour and grab a small pizza & beer for $9 on Monday or a fresh burger & beer for $9 on Wednesday. Those are just a couple of examples of their impressive Happy Hour menu.

We got the chance to try a few delicious appetizers… the Charcuterie Plate; house-cured and smoked meats ($10), Mushroom & Roasted Red Pepper Tartare; a delicious and fresh vegetarian option ($8) and Three Little Pigs; basically pork three ways ($11). We also had a specialty cocktail and a glass of their Coach Insignia signature wine (they partnered with Fisher Vineyards to perfect a smooth and light cab blend).

The Coach experience begins as you are escorted into the elevator to be whisked 72 floors up. As you walk in you should be reminded that there is a dress code (even if you are just visiting the bar for Happy Hour); they want to maintain the ambiance for their guests. They are adamant about making their guests feel special. The view is unexplainable and truly amazing at any time of day. Wherever you sit, at a table or at the bar, you will be in for a treat to your palate as well as your eyes!

Side note: Coach Insignia has a vegetarian menu and is happy to accommodate all specialty food requests. They can also put together an amazing event or private party. Coach is also quite popular according to the 2014 Metro Times Best of Detroit list… they were voted the Most Romantic Restaurant, Best Wine Selection for a Restaurant, Best View, Best Happy Hour for Drinks & Best Female Bartender by readers.
