Commission Rejects Recall Petitions Against West Bloomfield Officials

The petitions claim a February was done improperly. The officials say the recall is part of a vendetta.

The latest recall petitions against two West Bloomfield Township trustees and the clerk was shot down Tuesday by the Oakland County Election Commission, according to a Detroit News report.

The petitions claimed a February vote to obtain information and estimates on using the Oakland County Equalization Department wasn’t conducted properly, the report stated. The targets of the recalls—Clerk Catherine Shaughnessy, Trustee Lawrence Brown and Trustee Howard Rosenberg—say the petitions have been part of a political vendetta, the report added.

The three-member commission voted to reject the petitions 2-0, the report stated. One member abstained because his relative does legal work for one of the involved parties, the report added.
