Family Fun Night Honors Military, Police, Fire
West Bloomfield High School and Troy High School faced-off on the football field. Off the field was another story, as the School District hosted Family Fun Night, "A Salute to our U.S. Military, Police and Fire Heroes."
was a flurry of activity Friday night, where the School District hosted "Family Fun Night," an event prior to the game between the . Family Fun Night featured a dunk tank, bounce houses, face painting, as well as a chance to pay tribute to military, police and fire personnel who were on hand for a ceremony before the game.
"It's encouraging and exciting," said Board of Education Trustee Randi Sakwa. "I feel like you can see every aspect of the West Bloomfield community here, and it's especially great to see the kids. It seems as though they came (here) right after school."
Staff Sergeant Sasha Reyna of the U.S. Air Force said that as West Bloomfield is not a traditional military community (the nearest military base is the Detroit Arsenal in Warren) that felt the people may have been more appreciative for a public safety service presence.

"Not a lot of people here are used to seeing this kind of thing," said Reyna, a native of Warren.
