Family's Dog Perishes in Fire
West Bloomfield firefighters reported small explosions, then a larger one that caused the roof of a garage to collapse into the attached hom

A West Bloomfield family’s dog perished in a fire that broke out in the 6800 block of Apple Blossom about 9 p.m. Monday.
Crews from the West Bloomfield Fire Department’s Station 2 arrived within minutes of the call and found an attached garage was fully engulfed in flames and heavy smoke was coming from the roof, according to a news release.
After several small explosions and one large one that caused the roof to collapse into the the home, firefighters abandoned an offensive attack.

The fire was discovered by occupants of the home after they smelled smoke. There were no injuries reported, although the family dog perished.

The structure sustained heavy fire damage and is presumed to be a total loss, according to the release.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
