Finn Wins County Meet at Kensington, Nearly Sets Course Record

junior phenom Erin Finn's historic season continued Saturday as she won the All Oakland County Championship meet at Kensington Metropark in Clinton Township.

Head coach Nate Belill said that he understands the weight of Finn, in a class one year below Goethals, chasing marks set by the star Rochester runner, who is currently racing at the University of Washington.

"If we can have (Finn) paralleling her times, that’s a great place to be in," said Belill, the first-year head coach of the Lakers. "As far as her being a year younger, that's just gravy on top. We've got Nov. 5 circled on our calendars, because we're looking forward to seeing if she'll be the state champion."

Belill said that Finn does not show signs of injury and that she's being monitoring closely to hopefully reach a "gradual increase" of positive results as the season continues. from a significant injury that kept her out of competition, but has been on pace all season.

Belill added that junior Megan Eisworth set a personal record at Kensington, as did Sarah Poronto. The girls team finished 24th out of 33 teams, while the boys team finished 17th.
