How Safe Is Your Swimming Hole? Some Beaches Closed for High Bacteria Levels
Two Macomb County beaches are closed and monitoring begins Monday on 73 public beaches in Oakland County.
Right now, only three Michigan beaches are closed, according to the Department of Environmental Quality’s BeachGuard site, which is regularly updated to with beach water quality sampling results, advisories and closures.
The three beaches closed are:
St. Clair Shores Memorial Park Beach on Lake St. Clair, closed by the Macomb County Health Department for high levels of bacteria of an unknown source.

All Oakland County beaches are currently opening, but health officials told The Oakland Press monitoring will begin Monday and continue through July 25.
Environmental health students working as county interns will conduct the weekly testing for E. coli on 73 public beaches on 55 lakes in the county.
