Kelsy Schultz, Walled Lake Northern Student, Earns Perfect ACT Score
Five students from throughout the Walled Lake district scored 35 on the college entrance exam.

Walled Lake Northern junior Kelsy Schultz is among less than one-tenth of 1 percent of students across the U.S. to earn a perfect composite ACT score.
The test measures a student's readiness for college. The composite score averages test results in English, math, reading and science.
Kelsy is the daughter of Bill and Margie Schultz. She is undecided on her choice of colleges, but plans to explore the University of Michigan, Northwestern University and Stanford University. She is considering either Pre-med or Biomedical Engineering as her focus of study after high school.

While attending Walled Lake Northern, Schultz has enrolled in three Advanced Placement courses and plans to take three more next year.
Outside the classroom, Schultz is a member of the swim team where she competes in the 100, 200, 500 freestyle as well as relays. She also serves as Vice President for her class in student government.

“We are extremely proud of Kelsy and all of her accomplishments here at Northern," school principal Greg Diamond said. "Kelsy is involved in many extra-curricular activities, including Class Council, where she has demonstrated leadership skills, and extraordinary volunteerism and community service. We wish Kelsy the very best as she begins planning for what will most assuredly be a bright and promising future.”
Kenneth Gutman, Walled Lake Consolidated School District superintendent added, “The Board of Education and I congratulate Kelsy Schultz on this monumental accomplishment. We wish her well and look forward to her contributions in the medical and/or biomedical fields.”
Walled Lake Schools also had five students earn a score of 35 on the ACT. They are:
- Lauren Barlass, Walled Lake Northern, is the daughter of Scott and Sandra Barlass. She hopes to attend either Hillsdale College or Michigan State University to study Public Health. Barlass is a member of the school newspaper as well involved in her church.
- Arin Amin, Walled Lake Central, is the son of Tushar and Arti Amin. He hopes to attend the University of Michigan, Northwestern University, or Stanford University, to study either Pre-med or Business. Amin is a member of the tennis team at WLC and a member of the National Honor Society.
- Michelle Sheng, Walled Lake Central, is the daughter of Yuanyi Sheng and Xiaoyan Li. She hopes to attend the University of Michigan to study History. Sheng is a member of the National Honor Society and tutors students at the Walled Lake Library.
- Umang Lathia, Walled Lake Western, is the son of Amit and Nirali Lathia. He plans to explore the University of Michigan and several Ivy League universities to study Engineering. Lathia a member of the soccer team at WLW and Vice President of his class.
- Perry Lee, Walled Lake Western, is the son of Jay Zhao and Sally Li. He hopes to attend the University of Michigan but will also pursue MIT, Stanford University, and Columbia University. Lee is a member of the marching band and serves as a math tutor after school.
