Lakes Area Chamber Honors Walled Lake Staff, Students
The chamber also recognized the District's Foundation for Excellence for its 5th year of membership.
The Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce honored members of the Walled Lake Schools community during its Annual Membership Breakfast and Awards Ceremony at Edgewood Country Club on June 18:
- Barbara Garbutt, retired administrator, received the Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award
- Auditorium manager Matthew Weber was named Outstanding Citizen of the Year
- Joshua and Owen Finnerty, Sarah Banks Middle School; Alan Ginster, Walled Lake Northern High School; and Skylar Coe, Walled Lake Central High School, were recognized as Outstanding Student Volunteers
- Legacy Scholarship Funds, Inc. was recognized as an Outstanding Non-Profit
The District’s Foundation for Excellence was recognized for its 5th anniversary as a member of the Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce.
“We are proud of the thoughtful and selfless contributions each of these individuals and District organizations have made on behalf of the community. Walled Lake Schools’ mission specifically denotes ‘in partnership with parents and the community.’ Our volunteers’ commitment strengthens our community partnership,” Judy Evola, director of Community Relations & Marketing, said.
