Metro Detroit Spas Host Healing Hands for Arthritis Fundraising Event

On Sept. 17, local Massage Envy clinics will donate $10 for every one-hour massage or facial sessions to the Arthritis Foundation.

Local Massage Envy Spas will participate in a national fundraising event, Healing Hands for Arthritis, in support of the Arthritis Foundation. For every 1-hour massage or facial sessions provided to its members and guests on Wednesday, Sept. 17, Massage Envy Spas will donate $10 to the Arthritis Foundation.

Massage Envy Spa partners Murad, BioFreeze and Wyndmere will donate 10 percent of sales from its products sold in the clinics on Sept. 17 in support of this annual event.

With 1,000 locations nationwide, appointments are now being accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis at any of the six Massage Envy Spas in Metro-Detroit: Ann Arbor; Bloomfield Hills; Northville; Rochester Hills (2); and West Bloomfield. In the past three years, the Healing Hands for Arthritis promotion has raised more than $2 million for the Arthritis Foundation.

Massage Envy Spa also is a national sponsor of the Arthritis Foundation’s Walk to Cure Arthritis. Spa owners, therapists, estheticians and staff from across the country attend their local events to share information about the benefits of massage therapy, provide chair massages and support the Arthritis Foundation mission.

With more than 50 million American adults and 300,000 children affected by the disease, arthritis is the leading cause of disability in the U.S. Massage therapy can play an important role in alleviating pain and swelling caused by arthritis, improving flexibility and circulation, and reducing stress and anxiety.

“Now in its fourth year, Healing Hands for Arthritis makes a significant contribution to research and the fight against arthritis. None of these efforts would be possible without the ongoing support of our members and guests, which is why we encourage everyone to join us on Sept. 17 and make this another great event,” said Joe Luongo, Massage Envy Spa chief operating officer.
