Orchard Lake St. Mary's Falls to Novi in State Hockey Final

Orchard Lake St. Mary's fell behind 2-0 in the second period en route to a 4-0 loss to Novi in the Division 1 hockey final at the Compuware Arena in Plymouth.

Orchard Lake St. Mary's High School fell behind 2-0 in the second period and couldn't make up the deficit in the third, falling to Novi High School 4-0 in the MHSAA Division hockey final  Saturday night at the Compuware Arena in Plymouth. 

Orchard Lake St. Mary's  kept it tight and went in to the second period tied at 0-0. However, a total of five penalties which would prove to be the team's downfall initially hurt them 1:15 into the second period, when Novi's Zach Mohr scored on a power play. Novi's Taylor Howell followed suit on even strength at 8:38 to push the lead to 2-0.

Novi's Joey Ferriss scored at 2:38 to push the lead to 3-0 before Howell scored once again on the power play at 3:14 to finish the game and the first state championship in Novi's history.

The loss comes one day after a victory over East Kentwood High School 3-2 in the state semifinals It ends a 18-10-0 season for the Eaglets.
