Scandals, Spies, and Surprises: The Spiritual Ancestry of Jesus ~ An Advent Retreat

The gospel writer Matthew offers a genealogy of Jesus in the opening chapters of his book that reveals some very interesting and even scandalous details about Jesus' ancestral background. The surprising connections that Jesus has to such individuals as Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba, and others gives insight into who Jesus is and about his mission. An Advent Retreat at Pine Hill Congregational Church, 4160 Middlebelt Road, West Bloomfield, Michigan (48323) on Saturday, December 3, 2016, from 9:00 am-2:00 pm and led by Rev. Dr. Charles Packer, will involve the telling of stories of Jesus' spiritual background and our own accounts of how our family history has influenced our own spiritual journeys.
