St. Mary's Fair Continues to Rock Amid Rain Saturday

The St. Mary's Polish Country Fair will be open through Monday night at Orchard Lake St. Mary's Prep.

The downpour that continued to pound the area on  Saturday seemed to cool the crowds  at the , where the Orchard Lake Police Department reported just one citation issued in the fair's second day.

The one citation was for a "minor in possession," or MIP,  police reported.

Oakland County Sheriff’s Department reserves, including the Mounted Division on horseback, are being used as backup with the Orchard Lake Police Department for the first time to increase security for the 40th annual fundraiser at Orchard Lake St. Mary's Prep campus.

With the loss of the Michigan State Fair two years ago, the St. Mary’s Polish Country Fair has become the biggest fair in Michigan and the largest high school fair in the nation. Last year, the Polish Country Fair attracted more than 100,000 people from throughout southeast Michigan. 

The fair continues through Monday.

The National Weather Service calls for a chance of showers Sunday with a high near 79 and thunderstorms possible in the late morning and afternoon. Things are expected to clear up Memorial Day with sun and a high near 89.

Fair hours through the weekend are 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Sunday and 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday. The Las Vegas tent has special hours: 5 p.m.-1 a.m. Sunday and 3-8 p.m. Monday. Entrance to the fair is free, and parking costs $10.
