After Friday’s terror attacks in Paris, the West Bloomfield Township Police Department posted timely information on its Facebook page about how to talk to your kids about terrorism.

“Remember pacing and dosing,” the post read. “Allowing your child to have some control over how much, how fast and how detailed the information is that you provide them.

“Start either with what they already know and clarify facts. Then allow them to ask questions before you inundate them with more information. Sometimes less is better. They will let you know if they need more to know more.
Avoid direct exposure to media for younger kids. Remember, they can’t fully comprehend what they hear and images that you may think are benign may be disturbing to them.”
