Week in Sports: Lakers and Eaglets Home Openers

The week ahead promises exciting action in and around the township as the West Bloomfield High School varsity football team plays in its home opener against Clarkston High School Thursday, while the Orchard Lake St. Mary's Preparatory varsity football team plays in its home opener against Toledo (OH) St. John's Jesuit High School and the Eaglets varsity soccer team plays in its home opener against Pontiac Notre Dame Preparatory Thursday.

The Eaglets' football team will try to continue its good fortune after spanking Grand Rapids West Catholic High School on the road, 35-0, Friday. The Eaglets' soccer team and the Lakers football team will try to get back on track after falling last week to Linden High School and Farmington High School, respectively.

Tuesday

• OLSM boys soccer: The Orchard Lake St. Mary's boys varsity soccer team hits the road to take on Royal Oak Shrine Catholic High School. Kickoff is at 5:30 p.m.
• WBHS boys tennis: The boys varsity tennis team takes on Andover High School at home at 4 p.m., while the junior varsity team plays Andover High on the road at 4 p.m. 
• WBHS boys soccer: The boys varsity and junior varsity teams hit the road against Hazel Park High School. The junior varsity team's kickoff time is to be announced, while the varsity team starts at 7 p.m.
• WBHS girls swimming and diving: The girls varsity swimming and diving teams hit the road against Birmingham Seaholm High School at 6:30 p.m.

Thursday

• WBHS football: The Lakers' football team tries to improve on its 0-1 record in the Oakland Activities Association Red Division opener at home against Clarkston High School. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

• OLSM boys soccer: The Orchard Lake St. Mary's boys varsity soccer team takes on Notre Dame at home. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.
• WBHS girls swimming and diving: The girls varsity swimming and diving teams play at home against Farmington High. The meet starts at 6:30 p.m.
• WBHS boys tennis: The boys varsity tennis team takes on Troy High School at home at 4 p.m., while the junior varsity team plays Troy High on the road at 4.
• WBHS soccer: The boys varsity and junior varsity teams hit the road against Seaholm High. The junior varsity team's kickoff time is 5:30 p.m., while the varsity team starts at 7 p.m.

Friday

• OLSM football:  The Eaglets will look to improve their record to 2-0 at home against St. John's Jesuit. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
