West Bloomfield home selling tips - decluttering

How to sell your West Bloomfield home quicker and for more money. How to de-clutter and improve your West Bloomfield house for sale.

Spring and summer is the hottest time to sell your West Bloomfield home. If you are thinking about selling your home then it is that time to start getting ready to prepare your home. So where do you start? One of the first projects you should do is de-clutter. I know you love your belongings and little collections, but now is the time to start putting them away. Think of it as pre-packing. You are moving right? So what does it matter whether your beloved belongings are out for a couple of months. It is best that everything that will distract home buyers is out of sight.

Our goal is to make your home appeal to as many West Bloomfield home buyers as possible. We don’t want to turn the buyers off because of what you love, like, or believe in. Our world is made up of many different people that have different views and opinions. Not everybody likes the same things you do, or has the same religion that you do. Some home sellers will be stubborn and say "well I don’t care whether they like what I believe in or what I like". Unfortunately it usually hurts the sellers bottom line. Homes that are not de-cluttered will sell for less money and take longer to sell. That home buyer might have been the one person that loved your house. We need your home to have the widest audience as possible. The bigger the number of buyers that like it the better the chance of getting it sold quickly.

We are trying to de-clutter the house, while making it neutral. We want to make it look like a new construction model home as much as possible. After all builders knows what sells homes. They have been at it for years.. We want the buyer to be able to picture themselves in your home. We are a multi-cultural and multi religion area. We have Jewish, Christian, Indian, and Muslim home buyers. Put away the religious artifacts. It will help sell your home.

Put away your hunting trophies, your clown, sports, or plate collection. Yes even your love for U of M will turn off a MSU fan. They are not going to buy your home. I have seen Michigan home buyers do that. We want the buyers to be looking at your home not your collections, or your photos. Our goal is to make your home look like a model home. We want it to appear spacious and uncluttered. Think of buyers as a 5 foot deep pool. If you turn off West Bloomfield home buyers because of animal trophy or because of your religious shrine that pool of home buyers may only be 2' deep now. So don't be foolish and keep the collections out.

Time to DeClutter
Time to DeClutter

Now let's get to the root of de-cluttering your home. My rule is to only have 1 to 3 items on any shelf, or countertop. Clear everything off the refrigerator. If your home is full of furniture then some pieces may need to be stored. Put them in the basement or in a POD. Openness is the key to making your home and rooms appear larger. I have done this too long with West Bloomfield home buyers and sellers. I know which homes buyers will like because of the de-cluttering. A cluttered house turns off buyers. They spend less time in cluttered homes because they think they are dirty. A cluttered house takes longer to sell. A cluttered house is not going to get the best price it could. So do you want less money for your home? Is it worth $5000 to de-clutter your home.

Of course not.
