West Bloomfield’s Salon Orchard Hosts Coat & Warm Clothes Drive

As we get hit with another winter storm, West Bloomfield’s Salon Orchard is hosting a coat and warm clothing drive to help bring some warmth to those in need. The salon is collecting new and clean gently worn winter coats, as well as new sweaters, socks, scarves, hats and gloves from now through Saturday, March 2, 2019. Following the coat drive, donations will be distributed to and through several local shelters and non-profits. Customers donating to the coat drive will receive 20% off select salon services, by appointment only and with participating stylists and cosmetologists.

“Across our country, more than 3.5 million people are homeless every night. Of those, more than 1.35 million are children. Here in Michigan, it is estimated that there are more than 39,000 homeless children and youth. It’s heartbreaking to think that for many of these families, a warm winter coat and warm clothing is out of reach. Salon Orchard’s coat drive isn’t going to solve this crisis; I am hoping, that it can provide some warmth and caring to at least a few dozen children and families in need,” states Likaa Mikhail, owner of Salon Orchard.
