Whiz Kid: Abbott Seventh-Grader Wins Essay Contest

Bridget Farmer, 12, will be presented with an award from the Keego Harbor Optimist Club on Thursday.

  • Achievement: Bridget's essay about how education is the key to a successful future won first place in a Keego Harbor Optimist Club essay contest. She wrote about the importance of staying in school and getting the most out of her educational experience. Bridget will be honored at the Keego Harbor Optimist breakfast meeting Thursday, where she will read her essay and be presented her gold medal. Her essay will advance to the next level.
  • Key to awesomeness: Bridget has always been a strong writer and excellent student. This is her first award. Outside of school, Bridget enjoys dancing and also helps out at .
