• Westland Girl, 18, Killed In Domestic Shooting: Reports (patch.com) — An 18-year-old woman was fatally shot Sunday in a domestic incident at the Landings apartment complex on Hunter Avenue in Westland, and her boyfriend has been arrested. Friends have identified her as Monica Rokita and launched an online fundraiser to help her family cover funeral and memorial costs, while expressing shock at the loss of someone so young.
   

• MI: SMART plans for expansion into new communities after countywide vote passes (masstransitmag.com) — Westland residents could see significantly improved transit as SMART rolls out new routes funded by Wayne County’s recently approved transit millage, including a proposed line connecting Farmington to Westland along major roads. The plan also continues support for Nankin Transit, which already serves Westland seniors and people with disabilities, and aims to better link western Wayne County communities to jobs, schools, and the airport over the next three years.
   

• ABMDA adds new members (hbsdealer.com) — Detroit Forest Products, an independent wholesale distributor based in Westland, has joined the Associated Building Material Distributors of America, expanding the group’s network across Michigan and northern Ohio. The second-generation family business, founded in 1978, is highlighted as a strong, growth-oriented member that reflects the association’s focus on independent distributors.
