12th Annual Huron Valley Special Olympics Big Success
More than 90 people participate in event.
The 12th annual Huron Valley Special Olympics was a big success Saturday at . More than 90 student athletes participated in a series of track and field events including the 50 meter dash, standing long jump, shot put, softball throw, 4 x 100 relay and 400 meter dash.
The competition was spirited and fun for all the participants, and the large group of community volunteers. The event began with a parade of athletes lead by the Milford American Legion Color Guard. The Muir Middle School band played the national anthem followed by the lighting of the Olympic torch by Emily Vanderwill.
Student athletes from Holly joined the competition for the second year in a row. Coordinator Darlene Garrison was very pleased with the efforts of the special olympians, and thanked the large group of community volunteers for making the event a big success.
