Au Pairs lend a hand at the Daddy-Daughter Dance

Au pairs from Au Pair in America volunteered for the annual City of Farmington Hills Daddy-Daughter Dance held at the Costrick Center, Friday, February 1 and Saturday, February 2, 2013.

Over 600 dads and daughters attended this fabulous event and had a blast dancing to the music, eating delicious cake, munching on popcorn and having their photos taken to capture this special moment.

The Costick Center Activities Room was beautifully decorated with colorful helium balloon centerpieces.  The party atmosphere was perfect for the girls who looked adorable in their fancy dresses and wrist corsages. When the children needed a break from dancing, an arts and crafts table was available for the children to decorate special Valentine's Cards provided by Au Pair in America.

Au Pairs who volunteered were from several countries China, Germany, Guatemala, France & South Africa. Helping others comes naturally to these young ladies who are here for a year (or two) to provide child care for the host family they live with.

The au pairs mingled among the guests and to those who were interested, explained about an au pair's role with a family and why they chose to come to the USA to provide in-home child care and for a once in a lifetime cultural exchange experience. Many of the dads were not familiar with the term au pair and liked the idea of their children having a chance to speak with the au pairs face to face and ask questions.

At the end of the dance each child was handed a helium balloon to take home and a goodie bag from Au Pair in America which contained chocolates, Valentine's stickers, and other "goodies".

Everyone left with a big smile and the au pairs enjoyed seeing all of the lovely girls with their proud dads. They appreciated the opportunity to participate in this popular city sponsored community event.
