More than 205,000 Items Delivered to Women’s Shelters Across the U.S. on Mother’s Day by TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®
As the majority of moms across the country were being treated to breakfast in bed on Mother’s Day, thousands of others spent the day living in shelters, thankful just to have a roof over their head.
To make Mother’s Day a little brighter for women in crisis, the national moving company TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® partnered with more than 420 schools and community organizations this spring for its annual Movers for Moms® charity drive. Franchise locations from 31 states collected more than 205,000 items for women living in more than 100 homeless and domestic abuse relief shelters across the country.
Locally, the Detroit area TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® franchises partnered with local schools to collect items, including food, clothing, toiletries and other essentials for women staying at HAVEN, Grace Centers for Hope, Turning Point, COTS, the YWCA, First Step, Monroe Sunshine House and the South Oakland Shelter.

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® started the Movers for Moms® collection drive five years ago in Michigan, with 18 franchises collecting a few hundred donations for women staying in eight shelters across the state. Since then, the program has experienced substantial growth. This year, 116 franchise locations were involved in what is fast becoming a national program.
“We are thrilled partner with local schools and organizations again this year to support thousands of women in need across the country. The growth that this program continues to see has been phenomenal,” said TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® President Randy Shacka. “It’s really the passion our franchisees and their communities have for the program that continues to make it a success, year after year.”
