Boy Plans Valentine's Day Gift of Knee-Length Hair
A Michigan boy has never had a haircut. When he turns 5 on Valentine's Day, he'll share his mane to put a smile on some other kids' faces.

The Sterling Heights boyβs thick mane flows past his knees in keeping with what has become a family tradition. His dad didnβt get his first haircut until he was almost 5, and neither did Jaylenβs siblings.
And it hurts like heck when his mom brushes out the tangles.

βI hate it,β he told WJBK-TV. βI hate it when I get brushed.β
That will all change with a spin in the barberβs chair on Valentineβs Day β Jaylenβs 5th birthday β in a sweet gesture that will help kids who lost their hair to cancer, or never grew any to begin with.
βSometimes they donβt have hair because theyβre sick,β Jaylen said.

Heβs not the only one looking forward to βno more hair on my head.β
βIt is a lot of hair,β said Nichole Brown, the boyβs mother. βItβs a lot of work for me to take care of.β
The family didnβt say where theyβll donate the hair once itβs sheared from Jaylenβs scalp, but there are several charities that accept hair donations to make wigs for kids and adults. Here are a few of them:
